ABOUT YI & YI CAKES
Chef Yi, the founder of Yi Cakes, is an award-winning sugar artist world-renowned for her stunning signature sugar figurines. From 2018 to 2019, Chef Yi won a “Grand Prize Spectacular”, an “Innovative Fondant Award” by Satin Ice Fondant, a “Best of Show”, 7 first places and 2 second places in the cake decorating competitions around the USA.
Chef Yi has successfully built her business in the commercial art industry over the past decade since she earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Arts and an MBA. In 2018, after graduated from the Cake Decorating Program at Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and the Professional Chef Program at Natural Gourmet Institute (NGI) in New York City, Chef Yi launched her culinary art business and founded Yi Cakes.
Located in Los Angeles, California, Yi Cakes focuses on the delicate figurines and realistic sculptures on top of the cake. The innovative design and the delicate style that shine on top of the cake make Yi Cakes “unlike anything we’ve seen” as reported by the American Cake Decorating Magazine on the Secret Garden Fairy Cake by Yi.
Yi Cakes strives to empower cake artists to ignite creative ideas on top of the cake with Yi’s unique fondant figurine modeling solution that Chef Yi has developed by integrating the traditional Chinese sculpting techniques with the modern cake decorating techniques on top of the cake.
